Amazon Flow, which up until this point was an iOS exclusive title, is now available for download from Google Play, allowing Android users to join the barcode scanning party powered by Amazon. However, it’s important to add that Amazon’s “default” app can also “handle” barcodes, but Flow comes with a fancy UI that supports augmented reality for some products. For instance, you can point your phone to a DVD cover and see the movie trailer instantly. Pretty neat, though you’ll get tired from this pretty quickly.
In addition, unlike iOS version of the app, Amazon Flow for Android comes with support for QR codes, which are often found in print ads. This in turn enables users to not only see product-related information, but also to open some web page, add someone to the Phonebook and so on. It’s likely that this feature will also find its way to the iPhone app, eventually making the Flow app compete with the likes of eBay’s RedLaser and ShopSavvy…
