Remember the Alcatel OT986 aka TCL S900? If you don’t, let me quickly remind you that it’s the single-best smartphone wearing Alcatel’s brand — it comes with TI’s 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, 4.5-inch 720p IPS display, 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing one, 1GB of RAM, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, 8GB of built-in memory, microSD expansion slot, while Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is running the show.

Well the device has been launched in China as TCL S900 and is selling for rather affordable 1,999 yuan (about $315). That’s the price of the unlocked smartphone that doesn’t require putting your signature on any contracts whatsoever.

We like it and can only hope Alcatel will also push this baby to other parts of the world as well. We don’t have any information to support this claim though it seems like a common sense to get a foothold in the West with a phone that’s capable and affordable as the OT986…
