Fotopedia teams-up with Expedia to enable in-app hotel reservations

The maker of popular iOS apps Fotopedia is teaming-up with online travel agency Expedia to allow its users to book hotels from within select apps, namely Fotopedia Paris and Fotopedia Japan. This ad deal — cause we’re sure Fotopedia will make some money out of it — requires that your iOS-based device also has the Expedia Hotels app installed. If you don’t have it up and running, you will be prompted to do so and then be able to book a hotel while looking at some attraction in Paris or Japan – simply tap on the Expedia icon and follow instructions provided on the screen. The built-in system will first show you hotels that are close to the attraction you’re looking at, which is pretty neat (i.e. in-context).

Fotopedia serves 200 million image views per month in its applications. In addition to showcasing popular locations throughout the world, the Fotopedia apps also offer itinerary building and visual stories that present adventure ideas to incorporate into one’s travel plans.
