Best Buy drops the price of the 8GB iPhone 4 to $50 on contract

Best Buy dropped the price of the 8GB iPhone 4 from $99 to $49 in what appears to be a permanent price reduction and not a temporary sale. This new price point extends to the AT&T GSM version and the Verizon/Sprint CDMA version of the iPhone 4. Both the white and black models are included.

This drop in price comes on the same day Samsung announced a banner quarter with strong smartphone sales and a few days after Apple announced it sold 26 million iPhones in a quarter that fell short of Wall Street expectations.
