Obama campaign debuts new iOS app

The general election is coming folks, and both candidates are doing everything possible to stake claim to your vote. President Barack Obama has launched his official mobile application for iOS in his reelection bid. The mobile app packs election information, grassroots organizational tools, campaign news and more.

From what we’ve gathered, the “Obama for America” app is more than some cheesy photo-sharing and informational tool, instead, it brings a much more targeted get-out-the-vote strategy. This is tailored only for people who already support the president.

The Obama campaign is serious about its outreach, that’s why it is diligent when it comes to social media and direct contact (via email), which was a main driver to president Obama winning in 2008.

To better explain the campaigns focus and reason for this app, Stephanie Cutter, Deputy Campaign Manager for Obama for America, left tech site Wired this statement:

“As we push through the last 100 days of this election, our focus remains on helping make grassroots organizing as easy and accessible as possible for the volunteers and supporters that are the heart and soul of this campaign.” She continued adding, “That’s why we designed our new app to help break down the distinction between online and offline organizing, giving every supporter the same opportunities to get involved that they would find in a field office.”

Even if you’re not big on politics, you’d have to agree that this is something all politicians should be doing, as it brings better communication to its supporters.
