eBay is doing something special for all you lucky San Franciscans out there. One of the biggest e-commerce companies in the world is bringing same day product delivery to all those who live in San Francisco by way of its iOS app called eBay Now. The new service is currently in beta, so users who are interested must first signup here.
The way eBay Now works is it allows users with the application on their iPhone to browse and purchase merchandise from a number of local stores, which then is delivered to the buyer the same day. A “Shopping Assistant” will help users with their transaction once checkout time comes. In order for the program to be taken seriously, the company has teamed up with an impressive list of retailers including Bloomingdales, Macy’s, Target, and Best Buy.
Sadly, as we already mentioned, the new program is only available for people who live in San Fran, and unfortunately, there’s no word when this will roll out to other cities. Other noteworthy tidbits, include a $15 discount once you’re accepted as a beta user, along with free shipping on the first three orders. The only bad news is, after the discounts are gone, you’ll have to pay a $5 delivery fee for each purchase over $25. That said, if you’re getting the merchandise on the same day, it’s not such a bad deal. Right?
If you live in San Francisco, tell us if you plan on using eBay Now? If not, why?
