Sony Mobile is rolling out a firmware upgrade (version number 6.0.B.3.184) for its Xperia U smartphone, though it won’t bring Ice Cream Sandwich to the mix. Rather, it’s a bug-fixing update that will push Android version to 2.3.7 Gingerbread, while also including a number of stability and performance improvements. In case you wonder, network selection issues have been sorted out with this software release.
But that’s not all, this firmware was certified two days ago on PTCRB along with the other Xperia handsets that use the NovaThor chipset, aka the Xperia go and Xperia sola, as well as the Xperia P.
So if you own one of the mentioned Xperia smartphones, fire-up Settings, About phone and update from there. Even if you don’t see the new firmware yet – don’t worry, it’s coming any day now.
