Motorola to announce new handset on Friday – Likely the RAZR HD

While the likes of the Droid RAZR Maxx is hardly a handset to scoff at, we’ve always found it a bit hard to get excited for a Motorola handset announcement. Well, Motorola is looking to build some hype, as it’s set to announce a new device this Friday. With all bets hedging on the RAZR HD, could Motorola blindside us by introducing something we didn’t see coming? Probably not.

We’ve seen the Motorola Droid RAZR pop up in a few different places, and most recently got to see leaked photos of the upcoming device. The Droid RAZR HD looks to be a sizable upgrade from its predecessors, but given that the original Droid RAZR isn’t even a year old,  releasing three devices of the same family seems to be a bit of overkill, no matter how much better the successor is.

Motorola is teasing the mystery LTE handset on its Facebook page, where it will give clues as to what the new LTE device will be every day until the big reveal. With only a few more days to go until the official unveiling, maybe Moto can get some real attention surrounding the upcoming device. Be sure to stay tuned for more details from the Motorola Facebook as the week goes on.

If Motorola really wanted to surprise us, it would attempt to make a Windows Phone. But that’s just our opinion.

    Just checked the Motorola Facebook page. Here’s the quote from it:
    “Guess the Smartphone: I’m really fast! I browse the Web, multitask and power through emails with my 1.5 GHz dual-core processor. And just a note, I’m in market in the U.S. from Motorola already. Which smartphone am I?”
    The Friday announcement will NOT be about a NEW phone. It will just be to reveal which already “in the market” phone they had people guessing about.
    Moto, setting this Facebook “game” so that people could so easily think it was a lead up to an  announcement of the Droid Razr HD was a cruel joke. If the result you hoped for was to piss people off, you have succeeded.
