An app depicts presidential candidates wearing logos of their big contributors

If you’re keeping up with this year’s presidential elections and you also happen to own an iPhone, you may want to get SPONSOREDby, a new iOS app that shows presidential candidates proudly wearing the logos of their big contributors.

The application features six of the presidential candidates for 2012, including a few who won’t be on the ticket: Barack Obama, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Gary Johnson. For each candidate there are top twenty contributors listed along with the total dollar amounts they’ve donated thus far — creating for unique images that can be freely shared via email, Facebook and Twitter.

In case you wonder, the data is gathered from the Center for Responsive Politics, the nation’s premier independent, nonprofit research group tracking money in U.S. politics and its effect on elections and public policy.

The only problem could be the price – we’re used to seeing apps like these being offered for free and I’m not sure that many people will want to pour out 2 bucks for the app with politicians. Like they’re already don’t getting enough of them. Then again I may be wrong…

I’d buy the app if it included all viable candidates.
