It looks like Sharp is preparing to leave its nest and launch a smartphone outside Japan. The rumor is that the Android device marked SH530 will be released in China in the near future.
The mentioned phone doesn’t exactly fit the high-end category despite the fact that it has a 5-inch screen. The problem is that it [screen] has a WVGA (800×480 pixels) rather than 720p HD resolution. Rest of the specs include a 1GHz dual-core MTK MT6577 processor, two SIM card slots, 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing one, 7.2Mbps HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, 512MB of RAM, GPS, 16GB of built-in storage, while Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is running the show. Size wise, the SH530 measures 140×80.85×9.9 mm and has a weight of 176 grams.
ePrice Hong Kong says the Sharp SH530 will be launched in China soon though they fail to mention the price. However, judging by the specs sheet, we think this will be an affordable device, one that shouldn’t cost more than $300. We’ll see…
