While we don’t have official figures, we know Nexus 7 is selling like hot cupcakes on a cold winter day. The fact that Google and/or Asus are quiet about the numbers doesn’t stop us (and anyone else) from speculating.

By using the data from the supplier chain, tech-thoughts is trying to estimate how many Nexus 7 units Google will ship this year. For instance, Digitimes recently reported that suppliers will be shipping 4 million touch (OGS) panels for the Nexus 7 in Q3 2012. Add some other sources to the mix along with estimates for the current sales volume and he’s what you get:

  • Google will ship about 3 million Nexus 7 tablets in the third quarter, and
  • anywhere between 3 and 5 million units in the fourth quarter.

The last quarter is when people go crazy, buying all the things they need and a bunch they don’t. If Google enters other markets of Europe, Asia and Latin America, it stand a chance to surpass even the most optimistic predictions, offering a great Christmas gift for $200.

Seems pretty real to me, what do you think?
