Nokia bringing a Windows Phone 8 device to Verizon in 2012

On September 5th, Nokia will be unveiling its next generation of Windows Phone, running on the upcoming Windows Phone 8 platform. Several carriers have expressed interest in Windows Phone as a platform alternative to Android and iOS, but to date no carriers have announced plans to carry Windows Phone 8 devices. A Bloomberg report this morning suggests that Verizon Wireless has signed on to carry one of Nokia’s yet-to-be-announced devices, and that it’ll offer the next Lumia in time for the holiday season.

If true, it would mark the first Verizon Windows Phone device since mid-2011. Verizon had previously stated they wouldn’t support Windows Phone as a platform until Windows Phone 8. For those of you tied to the Verizon network interested in exploring what Windows Phone has to offer, your chance may soon be here. We’ll likely know more about carrier plans for carrying Nokia devices after the September 5th event.

Cool, a WP8 coming to VZW. Wonder if it will be good or will they be stuck with a Trophy type phone?

I might just re-up with Verizon if they carry the Nokia WP8, otherwise I’ll shop aound for someone who carries the phone.

the only way I would buy this phone is if they are with Verizon…
