Facebook’s Camera standalone iOS application received an update today, bringing a few welcome additions. Users of Camera will now be treated to a notification in the iOS notification center whenever someone likes, tags, or comments on your photo. More importantly, the update now allows you to choose specific albums to upload pictures to, instead of the uninspired “Mobile uploads” album all pictures automatically showed up in. While certainly not ground-breaking additions, the update brings some features users have been requesting for a while.
The update comes less than a week after the massive Facebook iOS app overhaul, in which Facebook rebuilt their iOS experience from the ground up, bringing speed improvements and other oft-requested bugfixes to the platform. Facebook’s Android application has yet to receive the same treatment, though we expect it won’t be too long before the application sees an update. Facebook is reportedly forcing its designers to use an Android phone just to give them an idea of how bad the Facebook for Android app is. Whether you love Facebook or hate it, it’s good to see them finally spending time on mobile after several years of half-hearted solutions.
