Samsung used IFA today to introduce the Galaxy Note 2 and the Ativ S Windows Phone handset. It also used the event to announce that Jelly Bean was coming soon to the Galaxy S III and the Note 10.1. No concrete date was provided, but “very soon” is a lot more encouraging than “later this year.” The update can’t be too far away as at least one official build of Jelly Bean for the S III has made its way into the wild.

Customers with an older Samsung device may be disappointed that Samsung didn’t mention the Note, the Galaxy S II or any other older devices in its presentation. The Jelly Bean update for these devices is either coming at a later date or possibly not at all.
