Online and mobile payments provider payvia scored an exclusive deal to power political contributions via carrier billing for Obama for America (OFA). As a result, Obama supporters will be able to securely donate using nothing but their mobile phone. Donations are made by text message and charged to the users’ carrier bill.

The payvia group first presented its service to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) this spring, which liked and approved it…

So now if you want to support Obama, you can (also) do that by sending an SMS. We’ve no idea what’s the number, but I’m sure his official website has all the details you need.

payvia partners with merchants and mobile operators to enable consumers to pay for digital goods and services using just their mobile number, adding purchases directly to their carrier bill.
