Barnes & Noble is out with two new tablets – 7-Inch Nook HD and 9-Inch Nook HD+, both of which are made for the mainstream users and are thus pretty affordable. The 7-inch model is available in 8 and 16 GB variants, costing $200 and $230, respectively. As for the bigger 9-inch Nook HD+, it could be yours for $270 or $300, depending whether you want it with 16 or 32 GB of built-in storage.
The Nook HD’s screen features rather impressive 1440×900 resolution, while the screen of Nook HD+ can display 1920×1280 pixels. Both pack 1GB of RAM and a TI OMAP 4470 processor clocked at 1.3GHz (7-inch model) and 1.5GHz (9-inch Nook HD+). In addition, new Nooks also pack Wi-Fi connectivity support (no 3G), Bluetooth, memory card slot and B&N’s custom UI that sings on top of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
When it comes to availability, pre-orders are starting today with shipping set towards the end of October. Those living in the UK, however, will have to wait for late November…
