The Sony Tablet S is no longer as interesting as it used to be when the company launched it but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t get occasional updates. Quite the contrary – everyone wins when companies treat its old customers with new software versions.

After getting its serving of Ice Cream Sandwich, the Tablet S is updated with few features its younger brother, Xperia Tablet S, has. Three notable things are:

  • Guest Mode – which allows multiple users to log into separate profiles and use just a few apps without being allowed to access settings and private files.
  • Improved media players – including the brand new WALKMAN music player.
  • Small Apps – like mini browser, IR remote, calculator, voice recorder and timer, all of which can be overlaid over an existing open app.

In addition, this firmware also packs other features, such as new macro functionality on the Remote Control app, new widgets (like Topics) and Socialife (former Social Feed Reader Cloud).

Pretty cool and definitely worth pushing the button. ;)
