HTC Desire X, you know the Android smartphone that sits somewhere in the middle of HTC’s range, is now available in the UK for just 218 GBP (about $350) from Unlocked-Mobiles. That money gets you a decent, SIM-free device that packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz, 4-inch WVGA screen, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity and 5-megapixel camera on the back.

As far as I can tell, it’s a fair deal especially for folks who don’t need the latest hardware and would rather grab an unlocked phone and it with a plan they want. Moreover, I would say the Snapdragon S4 built inside the Desire X provides an exceptional performance on a small-ish screen.

If, however, you don’t mind signing-up for carrier contracts, you’re better off getting something better, like the HTC One X or, even better, Samsung Galaxy S III. It’s your call…
