Verizon released the next generation Razr HD today and, right on cue, Motorola has started selling the developer edition of the handset. The phone is identical to the retail model of the Razr HD that Verizon is selling, with one significant difference. Unlike the retail model, the developer version ships with an unlocked bootloader. This feature allows developers and enthusiasts to install alternative ROMs without jumping through a bunch of hoops. Not surprisingly, this convenience comes with a hefty price tag as the developer phone retails for weighty $599 without a contract. Interested customers can place their order today and the handset will ship on 10/22.
