Sony prepared a special version of its Xperia V smartphone for the Japanese market. The device marked as Xperia VL comes with Japan-unique 1Seg support allowing its owners to enjoy mobile TV while commuting to work. Rest of the specs are unchanged and include a 4.3-inch HD Reality Display screen powered by Mobile Bravia Engine 2, 13-megapixel camera on the back, “high levels of dust and water resistance,” Qualcomm’s dual-core Krait processor, LTE connectivity support (in addition to 3G and Wi-Fi), NFC, GPS, Bluetooth and so on. Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich is running the show out of box.

From what we’ve heard, KDDI will get to offer the Xperia VL though we’re not sure how much they’ll ask for it. Moreover, we’re not sure when exactly the device will be released and can only hope that will happen sooner rather than later…
