2011 Sony Xperia phones won't go beyond Ice Cream Sandwich

Just recently, Sony posted an article on its official blog saying which phones will get the Jelly Bean update and which will be left out. The new models, Xperia T and Xperia TX, as well as the Xperia V will get Android 4.1 at some point in mid-Q1 2013. As usual, availability and rollout timing will vary by market and customer variants.

Also on the list are the global versions of Xperia S, Xperia acro S, Xperia ion, Xperia P, Xperia go and Xperia J, though at the moment Sony can’t tell us when they’ll get the latest version of Android.

As for the 2011 Xperia portfolio, it will be stuck to Android 4.0.4 as the Japanese company can’t guarantee owners of these smartphones the “user experience you expect and we demand.” Firmware maintenance releases, however, will be released from time to time…
