Nyko unveiled a pair of game controllers for Android, PlayPad and PlayPad Pro, with the idea to improve the mobile gaming experience. Or, if you connect your smartphone or tablet to a TV, to make for a real console-like look and feel.

Aside from the physical hardware, the company also offers an app called Playground to allow keyboard, mouse and touch event mapping. Your device needs to run Android 3.0 or higher in order to make this work, though Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone/tablet is required for touch mapping.

The PlayPad, available in black and white, is a smaller model, boasting analog sliders, rather than analog sticks (like the PlayPad Pro). It is available for $39.99, and as I’m writing this, we’re not sure how much the better game controller, PlayPad Pro, will cost. Guess you’ll have to check for Nyko’s website to get that info.

Finally, it’s worth adding that Nyko developed the two controllers in partnership with Nvidia, making sure some really cool games from the Tegra Zone can sing along. Cool! ;)
