We all know Huawei is working on a Windows Phone 8 device. We’ve seen it leaked for few times in the past and the chances are the Ascend W1 will be unveiled at the upcoming CES in Las Vegas (perhaps even alongside a better model, Ascend W2). Now we have a price to add to the mix – according to Techblog.gr, Huawei’s baby will cost less than $200 off-contract. That’s an amazing price point and the one that could help propel Microsoft’s platform to the new heights.

The same website also had a chance to play with the Ascend W1 and has even posted a video about it on YouTube. Unfortunately, the Chinese company’s PR/marketing department didn’t like that and the clip has been removed in the meantime.

Still we know all the specs – Huawei’s baby will come with a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, NFC capability, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and a 2000mAh battery.

wow it looks like Microsoft has a needed low cost smart phone to compete with hordes of cheap Android smart phones that are out there. in America the smaller pay as you go non contract cell phone networks could use this if it is good enough. T-mobile and AT & T could sell them for nothing on contract
