As part of its BlackBerry 10 promotion tour, RIM is organizing a series of events across the world. One of the most important ones [events] is BB Jam Asia, currently taking place in Bangkok, Thailand. Perhaps the most interesting announcements from the show is that BlackBerry App World has been renamed to BlackBerry World to accommodate for new content categories, including music and videos. Just like Google Play, users with BlackBerry devices will also be able to get all kinds of content, not just mobile apps and themes. And to make its store full of content, the Canadian handset maker announced few partners such as Baidu, Kantana and Fox Sports, with more companies following shortly.

But that’s not all. To get developers’ interest, RIM will also be providing necessary tools that will make porting of existing iOS and Android apps seamless. The SDK gold release is scheduled for December 11th, and interested companies and individuals making apps for the platform can register for the $10,000 Built For BlackBerry incentive guarantee starting today… We’ll see whether all this extra work will help RIM get back on track.
