Microsoft’s support website leaks Office for iOS reference

After much speculation about Microsoft’s plans to bring its Office productivity suite of software to iPhone and iPad, it seems that it has been all but confirmed at this point. Now, even Microsoft has — albeit unintentionally — revealed some information about Office on iOS.

On a support page of Microsoft’s French website regarding accessing a SharePoint library, it very clearly states in the right hand sidebar that among other versions of Office, this help guide applies to Office Mobile for iPhone.

The latest of the rumors we reported in November points to a possible release in February or March of 2013 for iOS and May for Android. The Verge leaked some screenshots of the Excel iPhone app as well. The entire Office suite most likely will not be a single app. Each app — Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and the like — will be sold separately. They might even be free too, but for read-only purposes. To get the functionality you really need, you’d have to upgrade to a paid version with an Office 365 subscription.
