Win a Galaxy S III and ‘It Can Wait’ gift pack from AT&T and IntoMobile!

By now, it should be common knowledge that it’s not a good idea to text and drive, yet that unfortunately hasn’t completely stopped the practice that results in nearly 100,000 accidents a year. In 2009, AT&T began raising awareness about the dangers of texting and driving with the It Can Wait campaign, and has since gotten over 1 million people to sign a pledge online saying that they will not text and drive.

While the dangers of texting and driving  aren’t fun, raising awareness for it certainly can be, and that’s why IntoMobile has teamed up with AT&T to give away an It Can Wait gift pack!

The gift pack will contain the following items:

  • A Samsung Galaxy SIII (No Service Included!)
  • An “It Can Wait” branded case for the SIII
  • An “It Can Wait” T-Shirt
  • 2 “It Can Wait” Thumbbands
  • 2 “It Can Wait” Stickers
  • A SkinIt coupon for one free large device skin
Take a look at the gift pack below!

In addition to your brand new (red!) Galaxy S III, you can show the world that you support It Can Wait with a T-Shirt, thumbands, stickers, and a SkinIt coupon for that new smartphone of yours!

So you want in? Entering is easy. First, we encourage you to go to and take the pledge to not text and drive! Second, just leave a comment below and share what else you’d like to do to get the word out about It Can Wait and the dangers of texting and driving to your friends and loved ones.

The contest will run until Wednesday, December 19th. The winner will have until Friday, December 21st to respond, or a new winner will be chosen. Good luck!

[UPDATE: The winner was chosen and has replied. Congrats, Scott!]

  • I’ve shared the story about the kid in tx that was texting and driving before he got into an accident his last one sent said something to the effect of “I need to stop texting I could get killed”

  • christian

Sweet deal !!!prevention is best !!!

  • Vineeth Pillai

I appreciate Intomobile’s and ATT’s initiative to spread the word about Stopping Texting while driving. I myself try to discourage people trying to text while driving if I am in the vehicle. It would be great to have the SMS and phone app intelligently identify whether the person is texting or calling while driving, using the sensors and camera and then use audible warnings to discourage the driver. That would be the best way to get the word across all the drivers 🙂

  • christian

Prevention is best definitely spreading the word of text n driving thru facebook n other social sites

  • Nick V

Through the power of Social Media, help show people what the dangers of Texting while driving are. I have already shared an image of an Corvette under the trailer of a semi, where the driver was decapitated.

  • I would create a catchy phrase that would be light-hearted and serious, with a bit of humor…Something like “OMG, DRVTXT’N? WTF? Stop! <3 IRL!"

  • Be an awesome gift for the wife! and I pledge my wife wont text and drive ! She has a bad habit of it and I “encourage” her every time we go out to stop it

would love an S3! throw the phone in the trunk while driving. bluetooth will let you answer your calls, but there’s no way you’ll be able to text.

Samsung G3 would be great to win because I have had a stroke and have vision problems and really enjoyed having full vision, As they say you don’t know what you got till it’s gone and texting & driving will eventually cost you alot, Maybe even your LIFE. That’s is a guarantee.. So before you text & drive ask yourself if it’s worth it, cause if you get injured your loved ones are going to Take care of you. Do you really want them to suffer for your STUPIDITY.

  • With S-Voice there really isn’t a reason to txt and drive. Talk to your phone and it will send a text for you.

  • gary

Need more plubic ads about the dangers of testing and driving

  • I think it should be illegal to text and drive in every state. I know it won’t stop everybody but I think that the majority of Americans who are fined for doing this would be encouraged to stop. So I think the best way to get results would be contacting a state representative or a congressman and submit a signed petition. I have a great deal of faith in this method. I am going to advocate for this with or without winning a phone.. 🙂

  • Josh

Ooh ooh. I want one. I want one!

  • florad

Pick me please! I never even look at my phone while driving. Always focuaed on theroad.

  • harad

I don’t ever take my eyes off the wheel. Could I get the S3 please !?!

  • I agree with Myk. It should be illegal and people who are doing so should be fined. Or at least people should applications such as Siri or S-voice while driving. Although it may keep your attention to your phone, at least your eyes are on the rode. Many innocent people die because of this and I believe strongly they have died and unfair death because someone had their phone out, which could have been easily prevented! I support the cause of itcanwait

  • Eli Pomerantz

I believe more than anything awareness is needed most of this accidents come from teens and young adults, making them aware that it can wait and by doing so you may save your life and the life’s of others, should be enough of a reason to have people be more sensitive to this issue. therefore you may not only

  • john steeves

I believe it is a great idea to get the word out and I think that the stickers should be out more and more advertisments

  • Curtis Massey

    Texting while driving is LAME!

  • I would tweet about it everyday, facebook it, talk about it to teen daughter;s friends

  • No more txt and drive its only aboutdriving safe for the sake of everyone

I cannot stand to see ppl text and drive. Especially ppl I know. You NEED to be smarter than that. You’re not driving a vehicle, you’re driving a weapon.

I always spread the word about this. Not only is it illegal, but it will kill you internally. Think before you do it.

  • beluga

No T&D. Thanks for my new GS3

  • Never no more to texting

  • Stiffer fines and better monitoring is needed. Most people are just not going to stop touching their devices whilst driving.

  • Marc Smith

One of my friends were one of the victims to texting and driving and before they knew it they were in the back of the ambulance when i found out about this i am always on top of people to keep them safe and sound and will do til’ the day texting and driving incedents are not ever heard of again.

It takes a village to raise a child…pear pressure. NT2D!!!

  • Jesus Barrios

An idea would be to create dead zones inside the car this can be done through a number of ways but when ever a person steps in to the car the phone gets basically placed into airplane mode.

Every precaution needs to be taken while driving. A friend of mine died last year in a car crash and she was only gone 18. Just after starting college. Never text and drive.

We can do more commercials on the danger of texting and driving and the consequences and just make it a law.

  • Adrian B

Im in!! I know i cant text and drive so i dont even try because i know i would cause a accident. It everyone else i worry about. Take the pledge and keep the roads safe!!

  • Bcskelly

Encourage driving modes with larger buttons and voice dictation because you know people will text and drive anyway, so you might as well give them a way to do it safer. Perhaps even driving modes that activate when the phone senses via gps that it’s moving at a high rate of speed.

  • Kids watch and copy what the adults do. Be a good example for my kids.

  • Donna

In college, “free” carries a lot of weight. I think by doing any kind of advertising, stickers, shirts etc. would be great to spread the world

  • I think car companies play a huge role in this, the more car companies that have compatibility with voice assistants like siri and google now will greatly decrease the need to text while driving. I believe chevy announced last week that their cars will have compatibility with siri and I think more car companies should do the same.

  • Janiess

Ideas travel by word of mouth and practice, as much as I love technology some things just don’t mix like alcohol and driving, texting should be treated as a DUI I feel more wouldn’t do it if the penalties were higher

  • marco

hope i ll win would love a new phone 4 xmas mine its too old

I will share this message on all my social media accounts and get the word out to all my friends and family especially my kids.

  • Anonymous

I told my niece and nephew about the dangers of texting and driving. Hope they listen.

  • personally iI set up tasker so when iI go above 20 miles per hour it goes in airplane mode.

this kind of function should be built in

  • Scott Bacon

I use apps like s voice and vlingo to interact with my phone, but I really like the idea of creating a take while driving. Might even use auto txt reply so the people know I’m busy and don’t try to call either. Great program and prize pack.

  • Rodo

I tell everyone that texting me back can wait. It only takes a few minutes it takes to pull over and return my text.

  • Anonymous

i would gather all my friends and family together and have a no texting and driving seminar with the galaxy s 3 in tow and all the in can wait swag and make them listen to me for at least and hour then custom make a one for my car again using the galaxy s 3 to take a good pic then blow up to car size

  • couchbox

My neighbor list her le while jogging when some idiot high schooler was texting and driving. I’ll make sure to punch my my friends in the eye if they text while I’m riding shotgun

A girl I was dating 5 years ago flipped her car and was killed because she was texting her friends while driving and just lost control. They were talking about her friends new hair cut. That definitely could have waited.

  • Anonymous

Any way possible to spread the word is good by me. though I don’t think it was caused by texting I’ve been in a car accident and wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

  • Anonymous

    Good idea

  • I would create a page on facebook, and make all my thousands of friends sign it!

  • jeff

Texting and driving is more dangerous than drinking and driving I already have the it can wait sticker on the back of my phone but I would love to have a new S3

  • Anonymous

I don’t think people actually realize how dangerous texting and driving is…. So lets forget the obvious danger and talk about the facts…. If you get into an accident while texting…. every text including date & time stamp is recorded and it wont be long until someone figures out that you were texting at the time of the accident…. g-d forbid if there is any loss of life or serious injury and you manage to luckily end up okay…. your life is screwed. Period.

  • pullapint

I set up a auto reply whenever I get in the car. My connects to bluetooth so it’s automatic. I bought a third party bluetooth receiver/transmitter for my kids to use with their phones to do the same thing.

  • Anonymous

word of mouth from a friend makes the most impact

  • I would love to get my car painted in a “It can wait” theme so everywhere I drove people would know that they shouldn’t be texting and driving.. and have some it can wait thumb bands or magnets or something that people could take off my car as a reminder to themselves..

Also with the s3 you can use those tactiles and program them so you could change your phones setting to turn off texting or put your phone in some mode or something to stop texting.. I know the at&t s3s have a driving mode app I bet you can get them for every carrier..

  • I dont even get into the car if I know that person texts and drive.

  • Anonymous

When my friends ask why I didn’t answer my phone or replied back, I always tell them I was driving when I really was and they know that that’s my policy.

  • Text + Drive = Death…. Got it

  • For many generations we lived without this technology so it can surely wait a few minutes till you are done driving today

  • Anonymous

I took the pledge. I would visit schools and make it cool not to text and drive

  • TKS

Quick reply texts aren’t safe enough. It’s still like texting. Once you’re in your vehicle and the phone is placed face down, it should pick up the movement and only allow E911 calls. If you need GPS, pull over, stop then enter coordinates, once the phone is placed back down it will allow directions or nav. Once you are not driving the phone will go back into ‘normal’ mode. The only way to solve the crisis is to make people do it. We are never ever disciplined enough. But that right there is your end all texting while driving. Code it, then OTA. Of someone tries hard enough to get around that, they must not value their’s or the lives of others. Do it At&t, SET THE BAR, SHOW THE WORLD YOU DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

  • Alfredo Vasquez

I do not text and drive. If I need to I pull over. If there is a passenger in the car with me they control gps and respond my text messages for me. I would like to spread the word about not texting while driving. Going to schools or just walking around and talking to people.

It could be your last Ride……..

  • Anonymous

as mr carlin said… i’ll text early, get it out of the way and then go driving.. just like my drinking

  • Xaye

TEXTING can wait. If it’s REALLY THAT IMPORTANT you can call the person at a stop light.

  • Anonymous

I want to wear that t-shirt to get the word out to all my work peeps

  • I think it would be best to share the information with the community, especially teens. Perhaps giving a pamphlet or video to high schoolers with a heartbreaking story about the real dangers of texting and driving would open their eyes to what they are really risking when they are behind the wheel texting. Real life stories tend to stick more than simple warnings and lectures about it that teens interpret as annoying. Giving out free stuff to younger adults is a good idea to get the word out and encourage them to quit texting while driving before another life is lost to it. I have taken the pledge and will share the link with my friends, urging them to do the same.

  • EvaXen

Telling friends what happens with individuals and families that had something unfortunate happen while driving and texting helps to dissuade them.

Positive reinforcement to let others know that texting while driving is clearly bad behavior.

The best and easiest way to get the word out about the It Can Wait campaign and the dangers of texting and driving is through social media like Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and YouTube.

There are also applications for smartphones like AT&T’s DriveMode which automatically sends pre-set replies to incoming texts so people know you are driving.
