Samsung GALAXY Grand has been officially announced and it will be available in both single and dual SIM versions, with latter version first to be released. It’s a mid-range device with somewhat unusual specs. You see, it comes with a 5-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display rather than HD one. Rest of the specs are similarly mid-end and include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, 2-megapixel front-facing one, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of built-in storage, Bluetooth 4.0 and a microSD memory card slot. In other words, it’s like the Galaxy S II with a bigger screen and less storage (Galaxy S II has 16 GB).

However, it does come with Jelly Bean out of box that’s further beefed up with Samsung software to allow users to run two apps at once (Multi Window), see missed calls and new messages just by picking up the phone (Smart Alert), watch videos in a pop-up window, and share content across Samsung devices via AllShare Play. Plus, let’s not forget S Voice, which lets you control the phone using your voice.

Pricing and availability information were not released though we expect to see the GALAXY Grand start selling at some point in early 2013.
