Polaroid wants to (re)join the smart camera party, currently dominated by Samsung and their Galaxy Camera device. The company’s forthcoming IM1836 model looks like a much better solution as it not only has a bigger sensor (18.1 megapixels) but also mirrorless interchangeable lens.
The image above was leaked in Russia and from what we can tell, Polaroid’s baby looks strikingly similar to the Nikon 1 J2.
Rest of the Polaroid IM1836’s specs include a 3.5-inch touchscreen, pop-up flash, Wi-Fi connectivity, microSD card slot, while Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is running the show. Processor wasn’t mentioned but we doubt it’s on par with what’s inside the Samsung Galaxy Camera.
Price and availability information was not released but we expect to get those details during the upcoming CES in Las Vegas. Stay tuned as we bring you more…
