Google Play showcases best Android apps of 2012

Like Apple did for the entire iTunes Store at the end of the year, Google is out with its own list of the best Android apps of 2012 as chosen by Tavares Ford, a merchandising manager at Google Play. “Some launched in 2012 while others issued updates that achieved a great combination of utility, beauty and accessibility,” he writes about the twelve chosen apps. “Almost all of them are available globally and offer a great user experience on both tablets and phones.”

  • Evernote - free productivity app for storing notes, photos, and memos | download
  • Pinterest - free social network for storing and sharing interests | download
  • Grimm’s Snow White - fairy tale story book for $1.99 | download
  • Pocket - free app for saving web pages for later | download
  • Expedia Hotels & Flights - free travel management app | download
  • Ancestry - free genealogy app | download
  • Fancy - free app for discovering and buying the best products | download
  • Mint.com Personal Finance - free tool for money management | download
  • SeriesGuide Show Manager - free app to manage and share TV shows | download
  • Pixlr Express - free photo editing app | download
  • TED - free app for watching talks and keynotes by knowledgable people | download

Google also published a list of the best music, movies, and books in Google Play for the year, viewable in Google Play.
