Qualcomm used it CES 2013 keynote to introduce its new 800 series processors. This upcoming mobile chipset outperforms all processors from competitors says CEO Paul Jacobs. It’ll deliver significantly better performance across the board with a dramatic reduction in battery consumption.
The new quad-core Snapdragon 800 will top out at 2.6GHz per core with a performance boost of 75 percent over current chipsets. It’ll also support the 100Mbps speeds of LTE Advanced, the next generation og LTE connectivity. Gamers and video fans wil be interested in the Adreno 330 GPU which will deliver console quality gaming as well as Ultra HD playback/capture. WiFi connectivity will be boosted by the included 802.11ac support.
The Snapdragon 600 is another quad-core CPU with speeds up to 1.9GHz and an improved Adreno 320 GPU. Similar to the 800 series, the Snapdragon 600 supports LTE 4G, and 3G wireless technologies. Both the 800 and 600 chips will land in consumer devices in the second half of 2013.
