Huawei announces the Ascend W1, its first Windows Phone 8 handset

After announcing two new Android phones on Monday, Huawei added yet another handset to its growing lineup of phones. This time Huawei is trying its hand with Windows Phone 8 and introduced the Ascend W1. The W1 includes the following specs:

  • 4-inch IPS LCD 480 x 800 pixel display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core 1.2 GHz processor
  • 512MB of RAM
  • Adreno 305 GPU
  • 4GB of onboard storage
  • microSD card support up to 32GB
  • 5-megapixel rear camera with flash
  • VGA front-facing camera
  • 1,950mAh battery with 470 hours of standby
  • Blue, red, black and white colors
  • Windows Phone 8

The Ascend W1 goes on sale in Russia and China during the month of January. It will likely land in the US, Western Europe and the Middle East sometime this year. Pricing and launch carriers were not available.
