Windows RT easy jailbreak tool allows users to sideload apps

Those of you with a Windows RT tablet like the Microsoft Surface know that the only way to get apps on your device is from Windows Marketplace. This is due to Microsoft’s decision to make the platform more secure and we would add more controllable.

Savvy hackers don’t like how that sounds and they decided to do something about it. And the first jailbreak tool for Windows RT device was born, allowing app sideloading on Windows RT.

You can read all about this from this thread at XDA-Developers, but before hitting that link you should also know that this solution won’t make sideloading permanent. You’ll rather have to repeat the process every time the device re-boots. Hopefully that doesn’t happen that often and you’ll be able to use some other “not approved by Microsoft” apps, which are all (or many of them) listed here. Perhaps it’s a good idea to see whether you actually need these apps before doing anything to your tablet. Just a thought….
