We knew Sony Xperia Z will be an expensive device since it has all the attributes of a super-phone – there’s a quad-core processor under the hood, 5-inch full HD screen and 2GB of RAM to make everything run smoothly.
We just didn’t have the exact figure for the continental Europe (we do have one for the UK). And now we have it, compliments to Amazon Germany, which lists the soon-to-be-launched device with the price tag of 649 EUR. Translated into US dollars that’s $865, making for a hard sell. Except if you’re a multi-millionaire who doesn’t mind spending a small fortune on his/her gadgets.
Hopefully, the price will go down with the time. Also, we expect to see major operators picking up Sony’s baby and offer it for less with their contracts. In the U.S. I would guess major carriers will sell it for $200-$250 to anyone willing to commit on a two-year contract. We’ll let you know when we hear something new on that. Stay tuned…
