Google Play Music updated, brings new features and fixes

Google is on a roll today when it comes to putting out updates for its apps. The search giant put out a new version (4.5) of its Google Music Play app. Version 4.5 addresses a lot of pressing issues for GMusic users such as longer instant mixes, improved shuffling of songs, and new album art and pinning progress that’s finally shown within the application.

Lastly, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S III (like myself) won’t have to deal with the app randomly freezing anymore. The GS3 fix is significant because it’s the biggest selling Android phone on the market, so getting the kinks worked out was hugely important.

Here’s the full list of changes below:

  • Instant mixes continue playing beyond 25 songs.
  • Added ability to shuffle an album, artist or playlist.New default album art.
  • Previous button added to widget.
  • Pinning progress now shown on album and playlist pages.
  • Fix for the Galaxy S3 freezing issue.

Is the app performing better on your handset?
