Google adds 9,500 pics of Grand Canyon to Google Maps

If you’re traveling to the Grand Canyon soon, Google has a surprise for you. According to Pocket Lint, the search giant has added 9,500 pics of the gorgeous National park to Google Maps Street View.

Google has been equipping people with special Trekker backpacks that have the same 360 degree panoramic camera the company uses on it Google Street View cars. The hikers, bikers and snowmobilers then travel into nature and capture pictures of the landscape that’s not accessible to automobiles.

Thus far, Google has reportedly mapped 75 miles of the Grand Canyon and has plans to expand this nature mapping to other parks and rural areas.
