The newest device in Sony’s Xperia line, the rumored device going by the codename HuaShan, or Sony C530x, will be released under the name Xperia SP. Although we still do not have release dates for this unit, we can expect Sony to deliver it to us sometime soon, and we expect the unit to be announced at the Mobile World Congress at the end of February.

While we’re expecting the Xperia SP to be a higher-end phone, the details on specifications are still sketchy. Rumors are pegging the SP to have  a 720p screen (size is unclear), run Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on a dual-core Krait processor at 1.7GHz, Adreno 320 GPU, LTE connectivity and a 5MP camera.

Also spotted next to the Xperia SP was the Xperia L, which has been going by the C210x as of late. The Xperia L will be a midrange model, running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, and featuring a 720p HD touchscreen, and a dual-core 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. The similarly speccd’ handsets may just be slightly tweaked in design, like the X and XL.

The shipping names were revealed to us through Indonesia’s Postel site, which lists devices which have been certified for sale in that country.

With Sony’s flagship Xperia Z and ZL models already announced, we are expecting both the Xperia SP and the Xperia L to be debut at Mobile World Congress this year, so keep your eyes peeled for Sony’s new devices.
