I tend to browse through Kickstarter a lot — the Design and Technology categories in particular — eager to find some great new ideas from creative and intelligent people. A few months ago I stumbled upon an interesting app called “1 Second Everyday” with the caption “Imagine a movie that includes every day of the rest of your life…”
The developer, Cesar Kuriyama, started recording a single second of his life every single day and has done so for months now. Later on in life, he’ll be able to compile those single seconds into full-length movies that encapsulate years of his life without skipping a beat. He was inspired to bring this incredible concept to the masses and did so with his phenomenal iPhone app. 1 Second Everyday lets you film any part of your day, trim it down to the best one-second clip, and save it to a calendar as seen above. Then at any time, whether it’s weeks or months later, you can choose to compile them into a full video and relive every day of your life.
Kuriyama launched the project on November 27, 2012 with the ambition of reaching $20,000 in funding on Kickstarter in 30 days. By the time backings were closed, he received a total of $56,959. The app launched a couple of weeks ago in the App Store for $0.99 and he recently announced that an Android version is in the works.
Media covered the app a bit when it first appeared on Kickstarter, but since being made available in the App Store, we don’t think it’s gotten nearly as much attention as it deserves. So we’re helping out with that. It’s truly a remarkable idea for people who love looking back on their life for a variety of reasons: to reflect, to laugh, to cry, to learn, and everything in between.
You can find the 1 Second Everyday app in the iPhone App Store and be on the lookout for the Android version coming soon.
