It looks as though ASUS is making its “cheaper Nexus 7 ” tablet official by announcing today the launch of the MeMo Pad 7. We’ve seen renders and leaks before, and the official specs of the device match up to the ones we’ve been hearing in rumors.

The MeMo Pad 7 is said to be coming in around the $150 price point, and is slated to be in retailer stores some time soon. The MeMo Pad 7 will be running on Android 4.1 and shipping with a 7 ’’ HD display (1024×600, 169 PPI), 7 hours of battery life, 1GB of RAM, a 1 MP front camera, and will come in an 8GB and 16GB versions.  It will also have a micro-SD slot, with the capability to expand to 32GB. It will come in three different colors, Sugar White, Titanium Gray and Cherry Pink. The back of the unit has a diamond checkered design, which will no doubt provide a bit more stability when handling the unit.

What do you think of ASUS’s budget tablet? Would you opt for this over the Nexus 7 in order to save $50? Let us know what you think.
