At $48, the Mogu S1 is the cheapest 5-inch phone we’ve seen

And we thought that 5-inch screen gotta cost something… Apparently not, as one Chinese vendor managed to make a phone with a 5-inch screen with a price of just $48. The name of the device is Mogu S1 and at the moment it’s still not available for purchase. It should start selling soon though, offering a 5-inch WVGA screen, 1GHz processor (most likely single-core), 2-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing one, Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 2,000mAh battery. We’ve no idea which version of Android it runs, but even if it’s stuck at Gingerbread, we won’t complain. After all, which other device offers all this for just 50 bucks.

Additional details, in case you understand Mandarin, is available from a dedicated website, from where you can also learn a thing or two about other Mogu phones. We always suggest paying a premium for a well-known brand, but if you want a second device, try one of these. You won’t lose that much…
