Archos may not be a well-known name in the U.S. market, but it has been making its fair share of Android powered tablets and Android devices, and now the French company is looking to expand into the smartphone market. According to French blogger Pierre Lecourt,  Archos will be rolling out three smartphones soon. Archos seems to be tailoring each device to a different price range, ranging from entry-level to high performance. The handsets will be touting 3.5-inch, 4.8-inch and 5.2-inch displays respectively. The release date of these rumored devices is yet unknown, but will be coming in the near future. Here are the specs on Archos’ rumored new line of smartphones:

  • Archos Carbon 35- The budget handset, that should retail for around 90 Euros. It has 480 x 320 pixel display, a single core processor, 512MB RAM and 512MB storage .
  • Archos 48 Platinum- A higher-end handset, that should retail for 249 Euros. It has 4.8-inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, a quad-core 1.7GHz Mediatek MT6589 ARM Cortex-A7 processor.
  • Archos 52 Titanium- This handset sports a bigger screen than the rest, but less impressive specs than the 48 Platinum. It has 800 x 480 pixel screen, a 1.2 GHz dual core processor.

Last year, Archos unveiled its Archos Platinum tablet range, and also makes a slew of media players that use Android as well. Entering the smartphone market makes sense for Archos, but with these specs and rumors still unconfirmed by the company, we will have to play the waiting game for now.
