Have you ever wished that your smartphone would charge faster? Sure you have! With battery capacities growing bigger and bigger in our smartphones today, it can take quite a while to fill it up with juice. That said, Qualcomm today announced that many device today ship with Quick Charge, which is said to increase charging speeds by 40%! Best of all, if you own one of the supported devices, you’re already good to go, as it’s been doing it’s thing out of the box!
Devices like the Droid DNA and Nexus 4 are among the many devices that are rocking Quick Charge, and you can find the full list of supported devices below. There are already more than 75 devices that are supported right now, and we can expect that number to increase by quite a bit in the future. Qualcomm received this rapid charging technology when it acquired Summit Microelectronics in June of 2012.
Last week at HTC Frequencies, Chief Marketing Officer Anand Chandrasekher spoke to myself and fellow Freqs about Quick Charge 1.0, and we’re all pretty excited to see what else Qualcomm will eventually cook up in the future.
