Hardware enthusiasts around the world are regularly tearing down popular mobile devices to not only determine how the magic happens, but also to find out how much certain OEMs pay for the final product. The last teardown we caught involves the hot-new BlackBerry Z10, which is found to cost $154. Moreover, it is said that BlackBerry’s baby costs more to make than the iPhone 5, but as we all know it – hardware is just one piece of the puzzle. Anyway, here’s the price rundown for the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone:

  • 4.2-inch display and glass – $26.50
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 SoC processor – $23.50
  • Camera sensors (8MP back camera and 2MP front-facing one) – $15.00
  • 16GB of flash storage – $9.00
  • Other components like battery, communication chips and RAM – $21.00
  • Other materials such as the plastic casing – $59.00

Do we think BlackBerry is unfair to sell its phone for $600 (unlocked)? Nope. After all, there’s so much more than hardware included in every smartphone sold today…
