HTC confirmed via a comment on their facebook page today that a few HTC devices will be getting an update which will essentially be a stripped down version of Sense 5. Owners of the HTC One X, One X+, One S and HTC Butterfly will be getting the update at an undisclosed time sometime in the next few months.

HTC has stated that the update is not a fully fledged version of Sense 5, and that “some features enabled by the new HTC One hardware will not be available in the software updates.” Specifics as to what features will be lacking are sparse, but we can assume that one of those features would be related to camera use.

HTC will be offering these updates to global variants of the above mentioned devices, and has yet to confirm the inclusion of other devices in the updates, as well as which carriers will be rolling them out.

So if you’re an owner of a HTC One X, One X+, One S or Butterfly, sit tight for your update, or just grab the HTC One when it’s launched on March 15th.
