Today the Sony Xperia TL is getting a substantial update, bringing the device from Android 4.0 to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. This update brings some major changes to the device, improving performance and bringing new features to Sony’s handset.

Although Sony has not released a full changelog of the update, the manufacturer has confirmed that the update will include a new and improved camera app, “Superior Audio” mode, a new lock screen setup and a redesigned home screen with seven panels and auto-resizing widgets. Also included in the update are new versions of Sony’s apps such as Album and Movies, an improved app tray and new search functionality. Jelly Bean features such as Google Now and Face Unlock are also now available.

Unfortunately, there are no reports of this update coming over-the-air at the moment, but the update can be installed trough a manual process using Sony’s PC Companion app.
