Round three of our Kickass Startups series is here. First we wrote about the 1 Second Everyday App in the iOS App Store, then came the awesome Spigen Metal Slate line of cases for the iPhone 5, and now we have a new project on Kickstarter called the Rhino Shield.
The Rhino Shield looks like an ordinary screen protector for iPhone and Android devices, but it’s incredibly impact resistant. In addition to the standard oil repelling layer and scratch resistant layers on most screen protectors, the Rhino Shield also features four more: an impact dispersion layer, impact damping layer, high strength layer, and adhesive layer. They combine together to form one super durable screen protector that’s only 0.029 centimeters thick.
The project was started on Kickstarter by a startup called Evolutive Labs. It currently has just under £42,000 in funding and it needs £50,000 within twelve days to reach its goal and begin shipping. (Don’t worry about the European currency, it’s available internationally.)
The Rhino Shield is compatible with iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 5, Nexus 4, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note 2, HTC One X, HTC Butterfly, BlackBerry Z10, iPad mini, Nexus 7, Kindle Fire, Galaxy Tab 7.0, iPad, Galaxy Note 10.1, and Galaxy Note Tab 2 10.1. The odds are in your favor. Pricing ranges from £12 to £20 ($18.63 to 26.76) depending on which device you buy a shield for.
Visit the Rhino Shield’s Kickstarter page for more information, drop/damage tests, and back the project.
