Verizon Samsung Galaxy Stellar to Get Jelly Bean Update

Owners of the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Stellar are about to get a nice little present. Verizon has confirmed that they will be releasing an new update for the Galaxy Stellar, which will bring the device up to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The update will include support for 64GB microSD cards, an improved spell checking app, improved multimedia message handling and more.

Also included are the Jelly Bean features, such as Google Now and a revamped notification panel. While we still don’t know when exactly this huge 403.6MB update will be pushed out to devices, it should be soon as updates are usually released shortly after Verizon posts about it.

So keep your eyes peeled, this will be a substantial update for this mid-range device, and shows that Verizon is keen on breathing new life into some of its older devices.

GOOGLE NOW

  • Just the right information at just the right time. Get today’s weather before you start your day, know how much traffic to expect before you leave for work and when the next train will arrive as you’re standing on the platform. Cards appear throughout the day automatically. Google Now is provided when selecting search on home screen.

NOTIFICATIONS

  • Take action directly from the notifications panel. Send emails, return calls, share photos and more. Notifications are expandable and you can scan multiple emails, see event details or full images and more. Added brightness bar and label for clear button have been added.

Additional Device Enhancements

  • Device software supports up to 64GB SD memory card.
  • New VZW Remote Diagnostics application for Jelly Bean software has been added.
  • Improved call clarity while using the the AUX Port of the car radio.
  • Multimedia messages no longer show when user sends group text message.
  • Improvements to Back Up Assistant (BuA) manual sync and Wi-Fi connection have been made.
  • “Merge with Google” and “Merge with Samsung” have been removed from contact menu.
  • Spell check functionality has been improved.
  • Improved network connection has been made.
  • VZW Sync & Connect email server connectivity has been improved.
  • S-Suggest preloaded application has been removed.
  • Verizon app store application has been removed.
