With the official release of the Android-based Ouya console on the horizon, the official game store has now gone live, claiming that any app uploaded through the developer portal will be available when the device starts shipping to its Kickstarter backers. Developers who have previously uploaded apps are in for a bit of a headache, though; Ouya has stated that any previously uploaded apps must be submitted once more.

Ouya is encouraging developers to get their games in gear for the console’s launch by having a contest, which will take the top three developers from the first six weeks of Ouya’s availability and feature them in a series of short documentaries. These documentaries will no doubt encourage the development of the Ouya platform, which already has a huge developer base.

The Ouya will begin shipping to Kickstarter backers on March 28th.
