It looks like Google may be looking to make some more job cuts at Motorola. When the acquisition of Motorola Mobility was officially a done deal, it was announced that quite a few job cuts were impeding. The decision ended with more than 20 percent of Motorola employees being laid off.

According to the Wall Street Journal, we can expect another 1,200 jobs to be released from Motorola. ‘

A Motorola representative said the following.

“These cuts are a continuation of the reductions we announced last summer. It’s obviously very hard for the employees concerned, and we are committed to helping them through this difficult transition.”

Motorola has been rather sparse in its releases as of late, and who knows what sort of implications this rumored lay off could have an effect on. Either way, given that it takes over a year develop, design, and manufacture a smartphone from end to end, we’re still expecting something from Motorola in the coming months. Whether it’s the X Phone or not, if Google has put a strong hand into the next Motorola handset release, it’ll likely be quite big.

Motorola’s existing devices — the Droid RAZR HD  and Droid RAZR MAXX HD are very solid devices. What are you expecting as the follow-up?
