Lee Young Hee, executive vice president of Samsung mobile, confirmed that Samsung will enter the wearable technology market in the future. Speaking during an interview in Seoul, the executive said the company has been working for a long time on a smartwatch.

“We’ve been preparing the watch product for so long,” said Samsung executive vice president Lee Young Hee. “We are working very hard to get ready for it. We are preparing products for the future, and the watch is definitely one of them.”

With the smartwatch and wearable tech market projected to explode in the new few years, it’s not surprising to see Samsung jumping on the bandwagon. The more important question is not which company will make a smartwatch, but which one will be first to produce a quality product that captures the heart of consumers.
