AT&T's LG Thrill 4G gets Ice Cream Sandwich update

And we thought AT&T has completely abandoned the LG Thrill 4G. It didn’t, or at least not completely as Thrill 4G owners can now update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Not exactly the latest version of Android, but better something than nothing. And unfortunately, we’re not sure whether there will ever be Jelly Bean firmware ready for LG’s phone. You can always experiment with third-party ROMs, though.

Anyway, if you have the Thrill 4G, you’ll have to download LG’s Mobile Support Tool to perform the update. It’s not an over-the-air affair, but the process is still pretty easy – just install LG’s software, plug-in your phone and follow the on-screen instructions. Before you know it, Ice Cream Sandwich will be running on your unit. You’ll get some browser enhancements, stability improvements, and so on and on. Check out AT&T’s update page for all the details…

I’ve tried several times to update my LG Thrill with ICS without success. After 10 hrs + it has only gone to 4%. Did I do something wrong or is there something I need to do? I can’t cancel or exit out. Anyone having similar problems?

I had the same problem and i thought i was crazy! Ive tried on two different computers and had many problems just getting it going, and once it would let me connect it would go through the “analysis” and “download” processes but get stuck on 4% on the “update” process. I left it trying overnight even to give it more time. Rick, did you find a solution to your problem? If so, what did you do?

I am having the exact same problem Rick & Lauren. The update stops at 4% in the ‘update’ portion. I spoke with lg and they said to try taking it to the service provider, in my case AT&T, and ask for them to update the phone.
